Sketchfab contest

Together with the awesome guys from sketchfab I set up a small contest with the people from my school.
You can see the all entries here
The the rules were not superstrict since it was more about just participating, fun, and daring to put your work online (which can be a very scary thing to do)
In the end we got some surprisingly nice results .
Half of the entries got staffpicked which made the creators feel very proud and happy

What you guys have all been waiting for, the winners!
The jury had a difficult time picking their favorites. The models were all on a similar level, so it was hard to just pick one. But after a few days of reviewing they finally decided on the top 3.
The winner is Felix with his Biker Medic Model, he deserves this place like no one else. This was the first time he used z brush and maya to create a game ready character and he did an outstanding job. But the cherry on the pie was his presentation, he even made a smll enviroment which made him stand out.
Second place goes to Dan with his steampunk character "Bekanovski". The materials of this character or executed very nice and they look convincing.
And the third place goes to Adrian with his hand painted wrestler. A simple yet interesting character that looks liek it belongs in a mobile game.

The jury also gave feedback
I hope this is useful for you guys so you can update your model for your portfolio

Oskar
Head looks great, A lot of character in it. The skintones are super and the hairstyle is nice. His sideviews (both left and right!) work really well, but the front view is weird to look at. There is something off on the design of the arms (small hands/arms? The lack of visible wrist?). The transistion from upperbody to the pants is a bit too straight in the front silhouette. Other than these remarks, everything look superb, nice material definition, good eye for detail, great character.

Joachim
Cool concept, pretty well executed, nice that he was placed in his own little scene.

Alexander
best overal finished, from character to presentation, still far from perfect

Oskar
Cloth feels good, the weight is believable. The lowerarms seem a bit short due the placing of the gauntlets/wrinkles. Face look fairly good, ears are a bit on the small side. The sideview of the face looks a bit to 'flat'

Joachim
While I'm not a big fan of the concept itself, he looks very well made and has believable cloth textures. Nice work.

Alexander
rly cool character, could use some extra love on the textures and the final presentation)

Oskar
That chesthair. the character has a lot of style, well done. You instantly look at the face and chest, the lights in the textures are really well done. The hands feel a little to square (I don't know the project he's for, so I can't really judge on them for that). His body has a lot of weight, like the skinfold above the pants. The painted details work well.

Joachim
Would be perfect for a mobile game, I like the idea and the details like the red nose, the tattoo, etc. The model also has its own style which is cool. Texture could have been sharper in places, mainly the back looks a bit too blobby.

Alexander
Love the style of the character but could have done more to it to really finish make it feel like a finished piece

Oskar
Looks very impressivve, it has a nice aloumt of detail. Sadly, a lot of this dissapears due the cluttery feel of the texture. There are the black parts, the camo parts (and some brown edges) but there is no color variation/gradients to help guide the eye. Front and Back view feel better because the amount of camotexture is limited.

Joachim
Weird to see this in a row of all characters. It's well made but doesn't fit the same category. There could have been more done with specular to enhance detail.

Oskar
Very clean looking model. Even in her T-pose the character looks dynamic. The face looks great, but the armour could be pushed a little further if you made the materials more different from eachother, spec/gloss wise. (intensity, or maybe even a small texture/grain, etc)

Joachim
Fun modeling and coloring style which enhance eachother, okay concept.

Oskar
materials were not correctly applied so can’t give any feedback

Joachim
I did think it was funny. There's not enough contrast in his clothing and skin.

Oskar
The head looks very uncanny, as if it is to big for his body and perhaps a little to robotic. http://i.imgur.com/pIXLmQN.png is a good reference. It has robotic elements while not becoming lifeless. The armor itself looks well crafted, but your design loses its appeal in the textures. You've put a small amount of scratches on him, making him look clumsy instead of battle-heavy Most of the time its better to go perfectly pristine or totally battle worn.

Joachim
Looks okay, but I think the colors are a bit off. The model is also not optimised

Oskar
It's really nice to have 2 completely different materials. It makes it very easy on the eyes. However, the armor plating and belts have no real influence on the suit. The fabric of the suit feels really heavy looking at the folds on the arms/above the knees, but there is no bulging above the belt. The folds that were done feel great though. The armor design reads well.

Joachim
concept was ok but I didn't much like the colors used in the texture.

Alexander
nice model to bad of the very bad textures, could have made it a lot stronger because the model has potential

Oskar
Nice style, good assymetry on the shoulders. Looking at the conceptart, you were able to mimic the painterly style very well but the face is really off. The looking down pose is a bit to exagerated, which makes the character rather unflattering instead of fierce or menacing. The colors are going great.

Joachim
Almost made top 4, very nicely detailed and handpainted, though not really my cup of tea, character wise. it's still nice work.

Alexander
unfinished and too bad pose to win
